Masters, Tool and Gauge Calibration

The calibration lab at General Tech, known as General Construction Lab Calibration, has been serving varied industries with dimensional calibration services and certified reporting for years. It is a leading, full-service calibration lab with the credentials and services to assure your measuring hand tools and instruments measure precisely and efficiently. Our dimensional calibration services include tool calibration for a variety of measuring hand tools, from calipers and stop watches to angle plates and irons, as well as micrometer calibration, gauge calibration, and calibration of masters and standards.

The Dimensional Calibration Process

Dimensional calibration is done by comparing the performance output of a hand tool, gauge or another measuring instrument with a measurement standard to confirm that the device produces results which either meet or exceed that standard’s criteria. The details of these results are clearly reported on your Calibration Certificate, along with “as found

Torque Sensor, Torque Wrench Calibration and More

Companies that work with torque instruments find that maintaining traceability and reliable measurement with routine torque calibration supports the quality of their operations. We at GCLC issue a Calibration Certificate for each item calibrated with all results and details of the torque calibration performed, as well as information on traceability and our DAC (Dubai Accreditation Centre) accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025.

Torque calibration can be performed at our laboratory with loads up to 1500Nm Ft. Lbs. The wide range of capabilities includes torque wrench calibration service, torque sensor calibration, tensiometer calibration and verification of many other instruments within the ranges listed below.

The Torque Calibration Process

All results from your force calibration service will be clearly detailed in a Calibration Certificate, a report covering “as found” and “as left” conditions, traceability, accreditation, complete calibration results and any adjustments or repairs made during calibration services. Torque calibration requirements are generated from a number of resources including manufacturers, ANSI/ASME, Federal Specifications as well as customer requirements.

Torque wrench calibration, screwdriver (preset) and torque sensor calibration makes use of a torque system with the option to select the appropriate transducer for the range of the instrument from among multiple choices. Torque multipliers are also calibrated with transducers, but require the use of two transducers. One transducer measures the generated torque input, while the other measures the torque output.

Psychrometer, Recorder, Hygrometer Calibration & More

Humidity calibration is a necessity for keeping humidity-reading instruments operating reliably and within accuracy specifications for a reasonable length of time. Humidity is a major environmental factor in many processes and manufacturing facilities, therefore, maintaining reliable instruments for the accurate measurement of relative humidity is critical for quality control.

We provide humidity calibration services at our lab in Sharjah, UAE. You will receive a Calibration Certificate with full details for each calibrated item.

The Mass Calibration Process

GCLC is equipped with a number of scales designed to handle mass calibration of standards and instruments at various weights and accuracies. The calibration entails a weight comparison from the scale readout against a known standard or mass value. The precision mass standards used for calibration are of a known accuracy.

Thermometer, Pyrometer, Thermocouple Calibration and More

We at GCLC offer services to meet all of your calibration needs including DAC (Dubai Accreditation Centre) accredited and traceable temperature calibration for ovens, furnaces and temperature-reading instruments.

Capabilities are available for most temperature-reading instruments including recorder, hygrometer, RTD probe, pyrometer and thermocouple calibration. Thermometer calibration for digital, infra-red, bimetal, surface and liquid in glass models is also provided. Our technicians survey temperatures at various locations in the oven or furnace to accurately identify the need for adjustments that will maintain consistent temperature throughout. Temperature calibration and uniformity surveys are essential for ensuring accurate and consistent production and efficient use of energy. At GCLC, we work with top-of-the-line calibration equipment to verify optimal performance from your temperature instruments.

Our field technicians can calibrate ovens, furnaces, temperature controllers and other instruments right at your facility, and you can count on a reasonable turnaround with every order.

The Temperature Calibration Process

We utilise a number of different processes to perform temperature calibration on a wide range of instruments both in our lab and on the field. Digital recorder and thermometer calibration takes place on a Fluke multi-process calibrator.

Pyrometer calibration, thermocouple calibration and some recorder and thermometer calibration are completed using dry-wells and liquid-baths with temperature ranges from -45° C to 1500° C. The liquid in temperature baths and atmosphere in Dry wells/blocks are set to a specific temperature for calibration. Once the appropriate temperature is reached, the test instrument and a standard are placed into the bath or well for a comparison of readings. Surface probes and thermometers are calibrated on special hot plates. Temperature calibration is usually a 5-point inspection, unless more inspection points are requested by the customer.

Load Cell, Force Gauge Calibration and More

Instruments such as dynamometers, force gauges and load cells are dependent on accurate force calibration in order to consistently deliver their specified performance.

At GCLC, force gauge, dynamometer and load cell calibration are performed on equipment with capacities over 100,000 LBF of tension and compression. Our force calibration and other calibration services are traceable and accredited to ISO/IEC 17025.

All results from your force calibration service will be clearly detailed in a Calibration Certificate, a report covering “as found

The Force Calibration Process

Force calibration is performed in one of two ways at our laboratory depending on the weight capacity of the equipment being tested. Most often, equipment with a capacity below 500 LBF will be calibrated using a hand-held dead weight test for tension and compression. Instruments over this weight capacity are generally tested on a computerised force calibration machine with a capacity of 3000kN. Force transducers in three ranges are available for use.

The first step is exercising the customer’s equipment to be sure it is in working order for the process to follow. Next, the appropriate equipment is selected and the standard is set. A 5-point calibration will be run for most instruments at every 20 percent of capacity, although a higher accuracy instrument will require 10 points at 10 percent of capacity.

Barometer, Manometer, Pressure Gauge Calibration and more

Routine pressure calibration will help ensure the accuracy and precision of your pressure instruments. The use of reliable instruments is essential for efficiency, quality and safety. We at GCLC perform pressure calibration up to 20,000 PSI. Our services include barometer calibration, manometer, pressure transducer calibration, dead weight tester and pressure gauge calibration.

With every pressure calibration you receive a Calibration Certificate from us with all the information you need about the condition of your instrument, calibration results, traceability, our accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025, and repairs and adjustments made.

The Pressure Calibration Process

Computerised pressure modules with capacities from vacuum to 20,000 PSI are used to perform pressure calibration and record the readings. It is customary to exercise the instrument to its full capacity three times before beginning calibration. As with most calibrations, a standard with a known value or capacity is compared to the instrument being calibrated during the pressure calibration process.

Most instruments undergo a 5-point pressure calibration, whereby the inspection occurs at every 20 percent of capacity. A higher accuracy pressure transducer or pressure gauge calibration will include 10 inspection points at every 10 percent of capacity.

Electrical Calibration

For convenient electrical or electronic calibration of meters and other instruments, General Construction Lab Calibration is your most reliable source. Our range of services includes multimeter calibration, chart recorders calibration, tachometer calibration, and electronic calibration of many other meters and instruments with DC and AC voltage, DC and AC current, and DC resistance. With highly trained technicians and high-tech equipment, our electrical calibration provides results that will give you confidence in the capabilities of your electronic instruments.

The Electrical Calibration Process
