Covering 0.70–0.75 g/ml, the 10/452/0 belongs to the Brannan M50 SP family of density hydrometers built to BS 718:1991. Between 0.70 and 0.75 g/ml the scale is marked in 0.001 g/ml increments; the 10/452/0 is 270 mm long and adjusted at 15 °C. Accuracy on the 0.70–0.75 g/ml scale is 0.001 g/ml, higher than the standard M50 series offers. The 10/452/0 is intended for low surface tension liquids, and its sub-series corresponds to IP 160 for petroleum testing.
