Brannan's 10/979/0 reads specific gravity between 1.90 and 1.95 on the 60/60 °F scale and is part of the general purpose M50 series. It compares the relative density of a liquid with that of water, so this 1.90–1.95 model is intended for liquids denser than water. Adjusted at 60 °F (15.6 °C), the M50 model 10/979/0 measures 270 mm overall and spans 0.050 SG with 0.001 SG divisions. The 10/979/0 design is comparable to the hydrometers in ISO 650 and the withdrawn 1960 issue of British Standard 718.
