The one-revolution dial indication removes the chance of reading errors caused by miscounting multiple revolutions since, in contrast to many other dial indicators, it literally displays the whole spindle length or range as a single hand sweep. It is impossible to misread "within tolerance" or "out-of-tolerance" when using one-revolution dial indicators. Improved immunity to shock from abrupt spindle retraction brought on by high impact is provided by a special shock-proof mechanism.
