The HLD impact device for the HH-V400 Leeb hardness tester (11AAE902) is the standard D-type device that Mitutoyo says covers most applications. It uses an impact hammer with an integrated carbide-ball tip, D scale (ASTM A 956).

- Measures hardness up to 68 HRC
- Specimen minimum 5 mm and 5 kg, or 0.1 to 5 kg when secured to a massive base
- Spacing: 5 mm from edge, 3 mm between points
- Surface roughness of the specimen Ra 2 µm or less
