A thermal flow switch that shows whether the flow rate is above or below a user-set flow rate is the TDFS2-2-P-06-BSPT model, part of the Series TDFS2. The device has two LED status indicators that show the switch visually. The unit has both NO and NC NPN outputs, and the fixed flow rate (setpoint) can be readily changed in the field using the magnet that is included.

Having no paddles or vanes to wear out or break, no jams in the paddle movement, and no movement assembly seals to wear out or leak means that mechanical flow switches are less reliable and have a shorter lifespan.
Extended lifespan due to the fact that it remains unaffected by empty pipes by preventing overheating and cooling down to the process temperature.
Reduced pressure drop with 10% insertion into the flow (e.g., 1/8" for 3/4" schedule 40 pipe) results in a lower system run cost.
