The discrete mixed modules combine inputs and outputs into a single, small module to offer the greatest flexibility. Signals from input devices like sensors, push buttons, and switches that can be in one of two states—on or off, open or closed—are sent to discrete input modules. Devices like contactors, indicator lamps, and interposing relays that can also have two states receive control signals from discrete output modules.
