The DHS40 Series is Palmer Wahl's high performance Heat Spy handheld infrared pyrometer, offered in ten spectral ranges that must be chosen when ordering. It supersedes the DHSA24, DHSA26, DHSA28, DHS29X and DHS35XT Series. Versions cover molten and non-ferrous metals, cold ferrous metal, measurement through flames, burning gases, thick and thin glass, polyethylene and polyester films, and low temperature processes.

- Accuracy up to 0.25% of reading with 1 °C / 1 °F resolution
- Photodiode or thermopile detector depending on model
- Cast and extruded aluminium case with extra shielding against EMF interference
- Example ranges: 1M 600-3000 °C at 1.0 µm; 2M 400-2300 °C at 1.6 µm; 3M 150-1200 °C at 2.4 µm
- MT through-flame model, 600-1500 °C at 3.9 µm; F4 burning gas model, 400-1600 °C
