Palmer Wahl RTC832S expendable tips are built for deeper dips, or for pushing through slag, with TC840 series Type S dipstick systems. A 1.75 in quartz-covered exposed tip sits on a 12 in cardboard sleeve, and the Heat-Prober manual describes these sleeved tips as suitable for immersion through slag of up to 12 in. Tips are sold 50 to a box.
