A USB link is built inside the 1908 multimeter for remote control and readback. The 1908P is appropriate for a larger range of system applications because it includes USB, RS232, GPIB, and LXI compatible LAN interfaces. Both types can be powered by internal batteries or AC lines, however the 1908P needs AC lines to operate the remote interfaces.

Aim-TTi 1908 Series Dual Measurement Bench Multimeter

Aim-TTi 1908 Series is a dual measurement, dual display bench-top/portable multimeter. It features continuity and diode test, automatic or manual ranging, linear scaling with offset, dB measurements, limits comparison, percentage deviation (%), min-max storage, power measurement in watts or VA, automatic data logging and external triggering. Model 1908P can be remotely controlled via its RS232, USB, GPIB or LAN interface. Model 1908 (non â€™Pâ€™) can only be controlled via USB.

Versatility

Most bench multimeters require AC power, the 1908 can operate on batteries. The batteries are charged from the internal power supply and can give more than 35 hours of operation.

This enables this multimeter to be portable into locations without needing to find an AC line.

The 1908 provides precision measurements, that some hand held portable multimeters may not be up to the task. Being fully portable, highly accurate, but it also has a built-in data logging for remote locations.

Dual Display and Measuring

The 1908 features a main display and secondary display, used various purposes:

Displaying a measurement together with the selected range (e.g. 100 V dc).

Displaying two different units of a measurement (e.g. Ac volts and dBm).

Displaying the result of a calculated function (Value and % deviation).

Measuring and displaying two parameters of one signal (e.g. ac and dc volts).

Measuring and displaying two different signals (e.g. ac volts and dc current).

Automatic data logging

The 1908 can store up to 500 readings at any required time, from one reading per second to one reading every three hours.

A simple recall sequence allows the readings to be scrolled onto the display whenever required. Alternatively results can be downloaded using the remote interfaces.

Safety

The 1908 has extensive protection against damage from accidental overloads on all ranges including 10 Amps.

They also meet stringent safety requirements of EN61010-1 2010 and EN61010-2-030 2010 for measurements up to 300 V (Cat III), 600 V (Cat II) or 100Vdc/750Vac (for circuits isolated from AC line).

Note

In dual measurement mode a completely independent but complementary measurement can be made and displayed on the secondary display. The two independent measurements are made alternately, not simultaneously, and the display update rate for each measurement is consequently reduced (this is not the same as dual display mode, where both a measurement and a modified version of that measurement are displayed e.g. ac Volts and the dB equivalent).
