The Crowcon Fgard UVIR combines ultraviolet and infrared sensing in an explosion-proof housing to detect hydrocarbon fires outside the visible spectrum. Three selectable sensitivity settings let it be matched to each location so that neighbouring detectors do not cross-vote, giving flexibility across different applications. It has been shown to detect a hydrocarbon pan fire at over 130 ft in less than 5 seconds.
