Both PROFINET Bus Interface Modules and conventional bus interface modules are available in the Emerson PAC8000 Network Interface Modules. The PAC8000 I/O can be connected to distant hosts using PROFINET thanks to the PROFINET Bus Interface Modules. When acting as remote I/O, PAC8000 nodes connect to the host controller over a local area network (LAN) using a Bus Interface Module (BIM). One can select a particular BIM to work with a particular LAN protocol. Depending on their purpose, BIMs are provided in a variety of different package styles, and each mounts on a specific BIM Carrier.
