The Mitutoyo 293-678-20 is a Quickmike ABSOLUTE Digimatic coolant-proof micrometer covering 2 - 3.2" (50.8 - 81.28 mm). Its spindle feeds 10 mm per thimble rotation, providing approximately 20 times the feed speed of a conventional micrometer. Each Quickmike model also provides a 30 mm measuring range instead of the typical 25 mm range.
The non-rotating spindle helps reduce torsion on softer workpieces, while the redesigned ratchet friction thimble supports one-handed measurement and maintains a constant measuring force of 5-12 N. The ABSOLUTE linear scale retains the origin throughout battery life, eliminating the need to reset the origin each time the micrometer is switched on.
