The Palmer Wahl 50A and 50AL are rigid-stem, filled-system dial thermometers with a 5 in (127 mm) dial in a polished 316 stainless steel all-angle case. The 50AL is liquid actuated for ranges to 500°F, using a non-toxic, odourless, non-flammable organic fill; the 50A is mercury actuated for higher ranges. A direct-drive double-wound bourdon coil turns the pointer shaft directly, avoiding the wear of a sector-and-pinion movement.

Options: dual range scale, Plexiglass cover and 316 stainless steel fitting. Mercury is prohibited in some regions.
