Palmer Wahl RTC827A is a heavy duty Type K piercing probe designed to gouge through surface crusts on copper and aluminium ingots to reach the metal beneath. The sensor is close-coupled to minimise resistance errors and gives a 3 second response on a clean hot plate. It fits the TC829 series extension handle and is rated to 1800 °F.
