In potentially combustible or explosive conditions, spark-resistant tools are used to reduce the risk of unintentional fires or explosions. They are resistant to the sparks that a normal tool may produce when striking hard surfaces. Many industrial applications, such as petroleum and chemical manufacturing, spray booth operations, the marine sector, mining, and paper industries, or any site where flammable vapours or combustible residues are present, need the usage of spark resistant tools. Aluminium-bronze spark-resistant safety tools are hardened to a hardness of 25HRC and have a breaking strain of 75-85kgf/mm2. Special attention must be paid to spark-resistant tools. Cleaning/redressing on a regular basis is required to eliminate ferrous particles or pollutants that could degrade the spark-resistant qualities
