A sample's capacity to scatter light is referred to as its turbidity. Water becomes turbid when the presence of suspended particles becomes obvious. Turbidity is a decline in water clarity caused by the presence of suspended materials that absorbs or scatters downwelling light.
The quantity of dissolved salts in water is referred to as salinity. In seawater, sodium and chloride predominate, with significant amounts of magnesium, calcium, and sulphate ions as well.
