The screw thread micrometre has a hardened steel 60 degree anvil and a conical spindle for measuring the pitch diameters of metric or universal screw threads quickly and accurately. For exact, repeatable measurements, a ratchet-stop mechanism applies homogeneous pressure to a workpiece. To reduce wear, measuring surfaces are made of carbide. The ratchet mechanism makes an audible click to verify that the measurement is done at the same force every time. The sleeve has a satin chrome finish, and the thimble has a laser cut scale for easier readability. Baked enamel finish adds toughness and extends the life of the frame.
