Infrared thermometers are employed in a variety of laboratory and industrial temperature control applications nowadays. Extrusion, lamination, and drying of plastics, paper, and rubber, curing of resins, adhesives, and paints, and cold-rolling and shaping of metals are just a few low-temperature examples. In the range of 0 to 3,600°C, the infrared thermometer can be employed in practically any application where its unique characteristics can turn an apparently insurmountable measurement and control challenge into a viable working procedure. Many processes that are currently carried out by hand can be transformed into continuous, automated systems.
