Mitutoyo's Rockwell hardness testing solutions provide accurate measurement of workpieces of various forms, sizes, and compositions. These high-performance test solutions can suit practically any application thanks to their continuous measuring function, extensive workpiece clearance, and internal surface measurement capabilities. A specialized tool called a Rockwell hardness tester is used to determine how hard metallic materials are. It ascertains a material's resistance to being penetrated or indented by a particular kind of indenter under a certain load. By applying two loads to an indenter—a slight load initially and a major load later—the depth of indentation created by the indenter is measured using the Rockwell hardness testing method. To get the Rockwell hardness value, the indentation depth difference between the minor and main loads is used. In several industries, including aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, and metallurgy, rockwell hardness testers are used for material certification, quality assurance, and research and development.
